Dan is a Stamford, Connecticut based associate in the Cross-Border Practice Group, a team of attorneys based in five countries dealing with employment and mobility issues involving two or more countries. Dan is a native Spanish speaker and his practice focuses on Latin America, but also supports clients in the EU, and Spain in particular.

Dan advises clients on the negotiation and preparation of employment agreements, most recently in Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina. Additionally, he counsels multi-national corporations on the preparation and compliance of handbooks and supplements for use in Latin America, most recently in Peru, Chile and Ecuador. Additionally, Dan has advised clients on the employment aspects of corporate setup and dissolution, most recently in Peru and Ecuador. Dan has also counseled clients with operations in the Dominican Republic and Panama regarding employment litigation.

In addition to his work in Latin America, Dan has advised on corporate transactions in Europe (Ireland, Italy, UK), with special focus on TUPE rules, benefits analysis, contract analysis, and retention bonus structures, supporting clients through M&A in Europe and South America. Finally, Dan has assisted on international investigations in Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo), and Latin America (Mexico and Ecuador). Dan is frequently called upon to support investigation work when creative research techniques become necessary.

Dan advises employers (whether multinational or newly expanding operations outside the US) in efficiently and effectively managing international labor and employment issues in today’s global economy. Specifically, Dan assists clients with preparing and implementing personnel policies, employment agreements, and independent contractor agreements.

On the domestic side, Dan has experience with labor and employment law, advising employers on wage and hour issues, discrimination, Title VII, and employment related torts. Dan’s broader domestic experience involves litigating personal injury and employment claims in state and federal courts.

Prepared employment contracts in many countries including the Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.

Previous Experience

While in law school, Dan’s oral argument skill were recognized as a finalist in the 1L Moot Court competition and an offer of membership on the Board. He received awards for International Law and represented asylum seekers as part of the Aslyum and Human Rights Clinic, winning a grant of Asylum for his clients. Dan is an active volunteer firefighter and member of the Board of Stamford EMS. He resides in Stamford with his family.
