Darlene represents employers in all aspects of traditional labor matters. She is a former attorney with the National Labor Relations Board, and her experience with the NLRB in the Region and at Headquarters provides her with insight into navigating the NLRB’s processes at all stages. Darlene also worked as staff labor counsel and in human resources in the automotive industry, and is well acquainted with the complex issues unique to manufacturing.

Darlene’s practice includes working with clients with unionized and non-represented workforces, providing strategic counsel to avoid issues and litigation, representing employers before the NLRB and in arbitrations, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and advising on issues related to grievance administration and contract enforcement. She is skilled in aligning strategies with business goals while minimizing liability and litigation. She has developed and presented training programs regarding labor law compliance, managing in a unionized environment, and other workplace topics for human resources and labor relations professionals.

As a former NLRB attorney, Darlene litigated numerous complex trials alleging unfair labor practices and related injunction proceedings, conducted investigations of charges alleging unfair labor practices, handled representation election petitions and hearings, and argued before the Courts of Appeals. In addition, Darlene served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Michigan.
