Hendrik Muschal

Managing Partner / Certified Specialist for Employment Law Berlin

Hendrik Muschal is a partner in Ogletree Deakins’ Berlin office.  As an acknowledged and experienced expert, he advises numerous German and international clients on all aspects of individual employment law, collective employment law in both the private and public sector, international employment law and criminal labor law. 

One of the focal points of Hendrik’s work regarding global HR management is innovative personnel cost optimization and data protection. As an expert in data protection law, Hendrik Muschal is co-chair of the Ogletree Deakins Data Privacy Practice Group and supports companies in national and international data protection issues.

Hendrik is strongly involved in international business activities, particularly in the field of international investments and cross-border transactions as well as global HR management.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Hendrik was a partner at the international law firm Beiten Burkhardt as well as Partner and co-chair of the global employment law practice group at Dentons (formerly Salans LLP).

Hendrik Muschal speaks German and English fluently.



Experience

  • Giving employment law advice to employers in the context of national and cross-border activities from various industries and sectors, i.e., software industry, banking industry, recycling and waste management industry, energy sector, metal industry, real estate sector and public/private health care sector.
  • Designing data privacy/protection policies for multinational German and US-based clients, supporting clients during implementation of global HR tools using cloud solution service providers, and tailoring solutions to help clients meet EU data protection requirements, including those involving the Safe Harbor Principles, EU Standard Clauses, and Binding Corporate Rules.
  • Advising the public administration on employment law with a focus on restructuring overflow staff, adapting work places, modifying remuneration collective agreements and agreed pay scale classifications, etc.
  • Recognized and renowned expert on personnel cost optimization in all industries/sectors at national and international level.
  • Employment law litigation before all German Labor Courts.
