Hera S. Arsen, Ph.D.

Hera S. Arsen, J.D., Ph.D. is Director of Content, strategizing on the development of timely legal content and overseeing the firm’s digital legal content, including articles, podcasts, webinars, client-specific reference materials, and email products. Hera, who joined Ogletree Deakins in 2003, oversees the Ogletree Deakins Insights page, including the firm’s blog—which covers the latest legal news from more than 20 practice areas and jurisdictions—in addition to the firm’s podcasts, periodic newsletters, and webinar series.

As a leader of the firm’s publications, Hera has written hundreds of articles on a variety of legal issues, which have been featured in numerous publications and media outlets. In this capacity, Hera also oversees the firm’s extensive collection of seminar materials, attorney-authored white papers, and a variety of other articles. Hera also works with outside legal publishers to produce monthly newsletters and other legal content.

As a member of Ogletree Deakins’ Client Services Department, Hera also works with the firm’s practice and industry groups to develop and manage their strategic marketing initiatives. In addition, she strategizes with the firm’s graphics and data visualizations teams to produce enhanced publications and with the business development, public relations, and events groups as well.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Hera worked in legal media for a number of national and local publications. She has worked at LAW.com, the online legal network under the ALM umbrella of brands, where she oversaw all court-related content for the site. She also worked for the Los Angeles Daily Journal where she covered recent California cases and interviewed and wrote profiles of judges and arbitrators for its Judicial Profiles publication. In addition, Hera has worked for several national publications and online resources providing legal news exclusively on labor and employment law.

Hera has worked as a university professor teaching philosophy and philosophy of law courses. She has been published in a peer-reviewed academic journal and has presented papers at a number of conferences. She has also edited a Classical Greek textbook. Hera received her law degree from Cornell Law School. Prior to law school, she graduated cum laude and with College Honors from the University of California Los Angeles with a B.A. in Philosophy. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California, Irvine with specializations in ancient philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of mathematics, and philosophy of law.

She is an active member of the State Bar of California.
