J. Allen Thomas

Shareholder   |   Raleigh

Allen works with companies of all sizes to help them understand their obligations as employers. Through regular consultation, Allen partners with employers to establish best practices and navigate issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, employee misclassification, and employee agreements and policies. Allen also defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, and wrongful discharge before federal courts, state courts, and administrative agencies.

A large portion of Allen’s practice involves litigating disputes involving non-compete agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, and other business related litigation. Allen has experience investigating and litigating multi-jurisdictional unfair competition and trade secret claims, and advises clients on strategies to protect their proprietary information.

Prior to joining Ogletree, Allen represented individuals and businesses at a regional civil litigation defense firm. In addition to labor and employment, he has experience handling construction litigation, creditor’s rights litigation, and commercial litigation.
