Jaclyn L. Hamlin

Jaclyn Hamlin is of counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Ogletree Deakins. She represents management in all aspects of employment litigation and traditional labor law, including at every stage of litigation before federal and state agencies and courts. Jaclyn has successfully defended management clients in employment discrimination and sexual harassment claims; employment torts including defamation and wrongful termination; and wage and hour litigation. Jaclyn has also successfully negotiated favorable resolutions to numerous employment discrimination litigation matters. In addition to her employment litigation practice, Jaclyn has experience advising employers on union organizing campaigns and representing management at the collective bargaining table and in labor arbitrations and unfair labor practice proceedings.

Jaclyn also has experience advising and counseling management on personnel issues, including absence management under the FMLA and state equivalents; responding to requests for reasonable accommodations for disabilities under the ADA and for religious practices under Title VII; performance management, discipline and discharge in sensitive situations, including in which the employee has already threatened litigation; and compliance with state and local paid sick leave laws. Jaclyn has conducted numerous investigations into internal complaints of sexual harassment and employment policy violations, and has trained employees and managers, both individually and in groups, on compliance with discrimination and harassment laws. She is a trusted advisor to in-house counsel, human resources professionals, and managers on human resource issues, employee handbooks and employment policies, employment-related best practices, executive compensation, and severance agreements.

Jaclyn earned her Bachelor of Science from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, and her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School, from which she graduated with honors and received awards for excellence in labor and employment law and oral advocacy. In law school, Jaclyn served as President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, and was a member of the Moot Court Board. Jaclyn was a member of the Mid-Atlantic championship-winning team in the 2006 Jessup International Law moot court competition, at which she received the Best Brief award and went on to represent the United States of America at the international rounds of the competition, arguing against teams from Brazil and Kuwait. Jaclyn also served as a Dean’s Fellow teaching legal research and writing skills and mentoring first year law students, and was a member of the Student Bar Association.
