Jim Mackie represents employers in all aspects of employment law, including state and federal employment discrimination claims, harassment claims, wrongful discharge, retaliation, restrictive covenants, and wage claims. While regularly providing advice to employer clients on a wide variety of employment matters and litigation avoidance, Mr. Mackie’s practice emphasizes litigation and appellate practice in state and federal courts, and practice before administrative agencies. In that regard, Mr. Mackie is recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Southwest Super Lawyers in the areas of Employment Law, Management, and Litigation – Labor and Employment Law, and was named by Best Lawyers as the 2020 “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation – Labor and Employment in Tucson.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mackie was a partner with the Tucson office of a regional general practice firm, where he concentrated his efforts in employment litigation, employment counseling and general commercial litigation. He has served as chair of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Arizona’s Employment and Labor Law Section, and as an Executive Council Member of the Tucson Division of the Federal Bar Association. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Mackie worked in various management positions with national, regional and local businesses, experience which he calls upon to work as a “business partner” with his clients, as well as a legal counselor to them.
