Katie Sanz represents a variety of employers in all phases of litigation in state, federal, and appellate courts and before administrative agencies. She has experience defending employers in claims such as discrimination, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and retaliation under Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and ADEA, and more. She also represents employers in ERISA litigation and matters involving wage and hour compliance, breach of contract, trade secret, non-compete, and unfair competition. Katie works collaboratively with employers by counseling them to develop practical, effective solutions and risk reduction measures in all aspects of employee relations including hiring, discipline, termination, and compliance with state and federal law and related regulations. In addition, Katie advises and assists employers in conducting workplace investigations and wage and hour audits.

Prior to joining Ogletree, Katie practiced in a general defense firm and represented clients across a wide range of industries including energy, manufacturing, and technology, and defended clients in employment, business, personal injury, and real estate disputes in all phases of litigation.

While in law school, Katie participated in the Case Western Milton A. Kramer Civil Litigation Law Clinic, where she defended low-income clients. Katie also volunteered with the Legal Aid Society and served as an Articles Editor for the Case Western Journal of International Law. Before law school, Katie taught English in a bilingual elementary school in Guadalajara, Mexico for two years after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in English Literature and Music Performance (oboe).
