Malou P. Mararang

Malou is an associate attorney in the Raleigh office. Her practice is focused on employment-based immigration matters.

Malou completed her undergraduate and law degrees in the Philippines. She was awarded a Rotary scholarship (GRSP) to pursue graduate studies at the University of Georgia and subsequently obtained full assistantship to complete her Master of Arts degree in Journalism & Mass Communication. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Malou worked for a small immigration firm in New York City where she handled employment and family-based petitions. She then worked at the NJ branch office of a midsize firm, where she supervised an attorney and paralegals working on nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions. Malou’s primary experience is in labor certification (PERM), H-1B, and L-1A cases for large multinational IT companies. She has worked on PERM audit responses, responses to complex requests for evidence, and has advised clients on compliance issues.


Malou has experience in high volume business immigration for multinational IT companies, particularly labor certification (PERM) and H-1B cases. She has also handled IT-related L-1A and TN cases. In addition, Malou has previously worked on EB-1 petitions for multinational managers/executives, outstanding researchers, and extraordinary ability cases in athletics.
