Martha I. Casillas has extensive experience in employment law, as she has defended both major corporate clients and government agencies through every stage of potential and actual disputes.  This wide range of representative experience provides her with a unique perspective on workplace safety litigation and settlement negotiation to help meet her client’s goals.

From August 2018-21, Ms. Casillas served as counsel for the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA).  Ms. Casillas represented and advised the Division on all aspects of enforcement and interpretation of safety orders, including but not limited to: guarding requirements, lock out tag out (LOTO), skylights, fall protection, cross overs and catwalks, manufacturer recommendations, Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), provision of water, reporting requirements, Aerosol Transmissible Diseases (ATD), and emergency temporary standards on Covid-19 infection prevention.  She has specific expertise in contested cases involving workplace accidents, serious injuries, and fatalities.

Ms. Casillas has years of experience litigating before the Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board (OSHAB); State Personnel Board (SPB); Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH); and Public Employment Relations Board (PERB).

Ms. Casillas graduated cum laude from Harvard College.  She attended UCLA School of Law.
