Since 1993, Pat Hulla has represented employers who have been sued by current and former employees. He is a trusted advisor, thought leader, and experienced class action attorney. For more than 10 years, Pat co-led the firm’s Class Action Defense Group. He has led the defense in more than 225 class and collective actions, and has provided advice and counsel regarding many more. Examples of his recent success include:

  • Successful trial of wage and hour class action claims;
  • Denial of class certification in consumer race discrimination action;
  • Denial of national conditional certification of age discrimination claims under the ADEA;
  • Denial of class action certification of off-the-clock claims under various states’ laws;
  • Denial of state-wide FLSA conditional collective action certification of off-the-clock claim;
  • Decertification of off-the-clock FLSA action involving 800 employees across the United States and two state law class actions involving more than 3,200 employees;
  • Decertification of off-the-clock FLSA collective action involving more than 475 employees working at a single location;
  • Decertification of nationwide store manager FLSA misclassification case;
  • Decertification of FLSA uniform donning and doffing claims;
  • Involuntary dismissal of federal misclassification and off-the-clock claims because offers of judgment mooted the controversy, thus denying court of subject matter jurisdiction;
  • Involuntary dismissal of state law claims in hybrid off-the-clock class and FLSA collective action; and
  • Summary judgment in outside sales FLSA misclassification case.
