Richard (Rick) Libert began his professional career as an employee benefits paralegal in Hartford, Connecticut, quickly determining to attend law school to become an attorney in this growing and dynamic practice area. Rick practiced in the ERISA/employee benefits field for over fourteen years at White & Case LLP in New York, where he specialized in qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation. He then returned to his native Midwest, joining Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis in 2011 as Of Counsel in the firm’s employee benefits practice group, prior to joining Ogletree Deakins in 2016. Rick advises extensively on plan qualification issues, plan corrections, plan design, and plan administrative matters. He also advises on health and welfare matters, including the Affordable Care Act, and has experience in Executive Compensation matters. When away from the office, Rick currently also serves on the Board of Directors for Storytelling Arts of Indiana, a local non-profit arts organization.

  • Handled a wide array of employee benefits-related matters for private sector and governmental clients, ranging from compliance matters, corrective action, plan design, day-to-day operation, and more
  • Wrote and edited professional proprietary materials geared to attorneys on specific employee benefit topics, along with blog entries, email client alerts and updates, and similar communications regarding recent employee developments and events
