Stefano Sandoval Malori joined Ogletree Deakins in January 2016. Prior to that, Stefano joined a small local law firm as Partner of the Labor, Employment and Social Security Practice Group (2015). Previously, he collaborated as Senior Associate in one of the most prestigious law firms in Mexico (2014), during such time, Stefano focused his practice in labor and employment consulting, hiring and termination processes of executives, personnel downsizings and employee transfers, labor reorganizations, implementation of working policies; likewise, he specialized in labor matters related to subcontracting and mergers and acquisitions. He started his professional career in one of the most important international law firms of the world; in such firm, he collaborated for more than 8 years as law clerk and associate. Stefano is fluent in English and Spanish.


  • Lead attorney of labor and employment issues in connection with several asset and stock purchase operations between multinational companies.
  • Has developed and implemented several labor structures that have helped his clients reduce payroll operation costs, employment benefits and profit sharing payment; has mitigated the risk of litigation or fine impositions derived thereof.
  • Has advised several clients in subcontracting matters and has implemented diverse corporate structures that require the use of subcontracting regimes.
  • Coordinated employment terminations and re-hires, as well as employer substitution transfers.
  • Has participated in drafting and implementing employment policies for diverse industry sectors.
  • Has collaborated closely with human resources areas of diverse national and multinational companies, for the elaboration and revision of employment contracts, internal working regulations, employment termination documents, implementation of new employment benefits or fringe benefits, as well as their homologation.
  • Has performed extensive due diligence procedures regarding labor and social security matters and has elaborated “red flags”, “key findings” and “full blown” reports derived thereof.
  • Has advised clients in the execution of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Has participated in internal investigations in order to verify compliance of legal obligations by employees and employers.
  • Has participated in several employment termination procedures with or without cause; including the investigation, drafting of documents, negotiation and serving process stages to employees and labor authorities.
  • Has attended and concluded several audits and investigations performed by the Labor Ministry.
  • Has led the registration processes of newly incorporated companies in Mexico before the Mexican Social Security Institute; likewise, has conducted administrative procedures before such Institute.
  • Has participated as main speaker in several conferences regarding labor legislation in Mexico, its reforms and compliance.
