Staffing/PEO

Professional employer organizations (PEOs) continue to grow in popularity. Employers that are having difficulty obtaining workers’ compensation or healthcare coverage, or that need help with increasingly complex administrative matters such as employee benefits, payroll, and risk/safety management are turning to PEOs to handle these often administratively-burdensome responsibilities. The PEO becomes the employer of record, while the client company continues to direct the employees’ day-to-day activities and maintains its focus solidly on the bottom line.

PEOs represent a rapidly expanding facet of our business at Ogletree Deakins, and they often refer their clients to us based on our wealth of experience with the unique issues that arise in a PEO relationship, in tandem with the relationship between the PEO and its respective EPLI carriers. We routinely assist PEOs and their clients in various matters including: drafting client service agreements between PEOs and their clients and insurers; ensuring compliance with state and federal laws; and managing liability and exposure for both the PEO and the PEO client.
