MiRi Song

Of Counsel   |   Los Angeles

MiRi Song is a seasoned trial lawyer who brings to her employment law practice more than a decade of experience as a prosecutor and commercial litigator. Her extensive trial work offers clients the rare combination of deep courtroom experience and strategic business insight.

Before joining Ogletree Deakins, MiRi served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, where she served as a chief of a senior section and won accolades, including the FBI Director’s Award. MiRi tried and won numerous federal cases, including most recently a seven-week jury trial involving millions of dollars in fraud against a corporate defendant and two of its executives. She handled multiple such high-stakes criminal matters involving racketeering, customs fraud, tax fraud, money laundering, immigration, and violent crimes. She additionally briefed appeals and argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. This experience honed her skills in case strategy, witness examination, and persuasive advocacy—skills she now deploys to protect employers’ interests in litigation.

In private practice, MiRi has represented companies in complex commercial and employment disputes. She played a key role in preparing for trial a matter that involved restrictive covenants and theft of trade secrets in a technically sophisticated dispute involving advanced imaging technologies and helped secure a favorable outcome for the client.

Outside of Ogletree Deakins, MiRi has served in various leadership roles, including as an Executive Committee Member of the California Labor and Employment Law Section and Editor-in-Chief of the California Labor and Employment Law Review.
