NEW YORK – November 9, 2015 – Patrick DiDomenico, Ogletree Deakins’ director of knowledge management, recently released “Knowledge Management For Lawyers,” a handbook on knowledge management (KM) and how it can help law firms improve quality, consistency, and efficiency, and deliver more value to clients. Since its release, “Knowledge Management For Lawyers,” which is published by the American Bar Association, has received acclaim from legal industry influencers across the country, including law professors, practice consultants, and other KM professionals.
As the legal industry continues to evolve under a myriad of pressures, KM professionals are expanding their roles to include not only process improvement, but also legal project management, creating pricing and alternative fee arrangements and assisting with the day-to-day business of running a law firm. Written in an accessible and jargon-free style that includes real-life case studies, “Knowledge Management For Lawyers” is designed to help professionals tasked with implementing better KM strategies in their respective law firms or in-house law departments by introducing them to the fundamentals of KM and providing them with practical strategies and tools that will help create stronger and more streamlined processes.
“While there are no universally accepted definitions of knowledge management, this book breaks it down into three key elements: who we know, what we know, and how we do things,” said DiDomenico. “Knowledge management at its heart is about connecting people with people, connecting people with knowledge and information, and helping organizations implement the innovative processes, procedures, and technologies that can help them become more efficient and, ultimately, more profitable.”
DiDomenico has been in the legal knowledge management industry for more than 10 years and is the recipient of the 2013 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Knowledge Management Professional of the Year Award. He has volunteered as a member of the ILTA Knowledge Management Peer Group Steering Committee and has served on the ILTA Conference Committee and ILTA SharePoint Symposium Committee. DiDomenico publishes the LawyerKM blog and has founded two successful KM LinkedIn groups, including the Knowledge Management for Legal Professionals group, which has more than 7,000 members, and the Legal Project Management group, which has more than 5,000 members. He is a frequent speaker on KM and legal technology topics.
DiDomenico was previously a practicing litigation attorney. He earned his J.D. from Syracuse University School of Law and a Certificate in Business Technology from New York University.
