ATLANTA – February 4, 2016 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected as the recipient of the 2015 AT&T Legal Department Diversity and Inclusion Award in the large law firm category. The award recognizes firms that have made great strides and progress towards the goal of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Winners were chosen in three categories: small, medium, and large law firms, and were honored at the AT&T Annual Legal Conference in Dallas, Texas on February 3, 2016.
In 2011, Ogletree Deakins established a Professional Development and Inclusion (PDI) department dedicated to the retention, advancement, and promotion of diverse attorneys. Since its inception, the PDI team has developed robust programming for a female attorneys’ initiative, an African-American business resource group, and an LGBT business resource group, among numerous other initiatives. The PDI department also created a diversity and inclusion ambassador program to encourage local office participation in diversity and inclusion initiatives and publishes a biannual newsletter to highlight the accomplishments of the firm’s diverse attorneys.
“We are honored to be recognized by AT&T with this prestigious award and look forward to continuing to build on our tradition of diversity and inclusion,” said Michelle Wimes, Ogletree Deakins’ director of professional development and inclusion.
