• Defends clients in class and collective action claims arising from a wide range of issues, such as independent contractor misclassification, off-the-clock work, missed meal and rest breaks, and unpaid business expense reimbursement
• Conducts due diligence audits relating to the classification of certain positions as exempt or non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act
• Tracks state law minimum salary thresholds that exceed the federal law requirements
• Manages unemployment compensation claims by independent contractors performing freelance services for on-demand/gig economy businesses
• Prepares and enforces multi-state arbitration programs, including compelling arbitration agreements in multiple states across the country
• Manages the delivery of non-competition, non-solicitation, confidentiality, and intellectual property agreements for multi-state businesses
• Developed and administers the Ogletree Deakins Model for Alabama Employers, a flat-fee program designed to help growing businesses with operations in Alabama ensure they are in compliance with relevant employment laws
• Argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit
• Obtained successful results on appeals before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States
• Obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction enforcing a non-competition agreement in Alabama state court
• Managed multiple reductions in force, including multi-state mass layoffs and furloughs
