Nicole S. Mulé

Associate   |   Stamford

Understanding that few areas of business management are as sensitive as employee relations, Nicole devotes her career to counseling employers through the complexities of employment law. Nicole’s unique background previously managing business operations and working closely with c-suite executives, gives her unique expertise to strike the proper balance between meeting employers’ operational needs and preventing or limiting their risk in a practical way. She regularly counsels companies and human resource professionals in all areas of employment law, including: discharge and discrimination issues, workplace investigations, personnel policies and handbooks, employee discipline, wage and hour issues, disability and reasonable accommodation, family and medical leave, unemployment, employment and independent contractor agreements, severance and separation agreements, individual terminations and reductions in force. Nicole’s skills have enabled her to create lasting relationships and solutions for employers.

The scope of Nicole’s practice is broad. Nicole regularly defends employers of all sizes, across various industries, in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, on a wide spectrum of employment law issues. She has experience in matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, interference with leave rights, wage and hour and restrictive covenant disputes. Nicole also remains on the cutting edge of the changing landscape of employment legislation, most recently with multistate pay transparency compliance.

Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Nicole worked at a highly-regarded regional labor and employment law firm, where she second-chaired a wage and hour class action, negotiated a first union contract for a national healthcare organization, defended against unfair labor practice charges and drafted employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visas.

Outside of the firm, Nicole serves as a Board Member for the Hartford Marathon Foundation, a not for profit organization whose mission is to encourage individuals and families to adopt and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. She also serves as Board Member and co-chair of the Mentorship Committee for the Western New England School of Law, Alumni Board.

Nicole is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
