Kyle Wende is an associate in Ogletree Deakins’ Sacramento office. His practice focuses on employment litigation but includes a wide variety of issues. He has experience with class actions, PAGA, wage & hour claims, discrimination and harassment, disability and medical leave laws, and trade secrets protection. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Kyle worked for several years representing employee unions and their members, before shifting to represent employers in the construction and technology industries. This diverse experience gives him unique insight in defending Ogletree Deakins clients and advising them on compliance with California’s byzantine employment regulations.
In law school, Kyle externed for two terms with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, where he evaluated employee discrimination claims and assisting in administering the the-largest class settlement in the agency’s history. He also served on the Trial Practice Honors Board. He graduated with a pro bono certificate and was inducted into the national Order of Barristers. He has special interests in the difficulties of managing a workforce across state and national borders, and in how the ease of one plaintiff attorney presenting class or collective claims adds to the ever-increasing cost of doing business in California.
