David Boland serves as the Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer (CKO) and is responsible for guiding the firm’s vision with respect to innovation and knowledge management. In his role, David oversees the Knowledge Management Department, which includes managing the firm’s knowledge sharing and collaboration tools internally as well as externally with clients. Additionally, David is responsible for the firm’s Research Services, Data Analytics, Practice Intelligence, and Legal Project Management capabilities.
David joins Ogletree Deakins from Grant Thornton where he served as Chief Knowledge Officer. Earlier, he held various leadership roles including Deputy Chief Knowledge Officer at Deloitte. In addition to overseeing both U.S. and global knowledge management teams, Boland’s experience includes leading a successful enterprise-wide digital transformation that included the implementation of a digital workspace and multiple mobile apps to support innovation, revenue growth, and operational efficiencies for professional services firms.
In addition to his experience in knowledge management, Boland is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified ScrumMaster®. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed an Executive Education program from Harvard Business School. Boland has received industry and peer acclaim for his work. In 2019, the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC) honored his accomplishments in their inaugural Excellence in Knowledge Management award at the enterprise level (one of four award winners), and again in 2022 (one of six, out of 400+ organizations), highlighting Dave’s vision, leadership, and commitment to building and leading world-class KM organizations.
