Ryan J. Swink

Ryan Swink is an associate in the firm’s Houston office, where he advises and represents employers on all matters impacting their employees. Ryan’s practice focuses on assisting employers in workplace safety and health matters, including preventive advice and counseling, regulatory actions, and investigation. Ryan represents employers in a variety of industries, including, manufacturing, construction, maritime, health, restaurant and hospitality.

Ryan also has wide-ranging experience defending employers against FLSA and state law wage and hour claims. He has represented a variety of employers against allegations that employees worked off-the-clock or were misclassified as exempt from overtime pay or as independent contractors.

Additionally, Ryan has substantial experience handling single plaintiff matters arising Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the similar state and local laws. Ryan conducts investigations, handles charges of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and defends any ensuing litigation in state and federal court.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Ryan spent two years clerking for United States District Judge Marcia Crone in the Eastern District of Texas.

Ryan graduated valedictorian from South Texas College of Law – Houston, in 2017. During law school Ryan was an avid member of the school’s Moot Court team competing in several national tournaments and winning multiple best brief awards.
