Understanding that few areas of business management are as sensitive as employee relations, Justine L. Abrams devotes her career to guiding employers through the complexities of employment law. In that regard, Justine regularly defends employers of all sizes, across various industries, in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, on a wide spectrum of employment law issues. She also provides day-to-day human resources counseling, partnering with employers to develop policies and creative solutions for effectively handling all employment law-related matters. Justine strives to strike the proper balance between meeting employers’ operational needs and preventing or limiting their exposure to liability in a practical way. She also prides herself on her ability to raise awareness of harassment and discrimination in the workplace through her engaging training programs, helping employers create and encourage a culture of respect and professionalism.
The scope of Justine’s employment law practice is broad. She has experience in matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, interference with leave rights, wage and hour and restrictive covenant disputes. Justine also remains on the cutting edge of novel issues affecting employers, most recently the legalization of cannabis and the Covid-19 pandemic. Even in these uncharted territories, Justine’s skills have enabled her to create lasting solutions for employers.
Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Justine worked at a highly-regarded regional labor and employment law firm, successfully defending many employers in litigation and arbitration, and providing counseling and training. Prior to that, Justine served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Paone, J.S.C., interned for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and interned for the Honorable Faith S. Hochberg, U.S.D.J. in federal court.
