Emily Halliday provides strategic advice to companies on a wide range of labor and employment legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. Emily counsels companies on pay equity, pay transparency, and privileged compensation audits. She also advises on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Emily works closely with statisticians and labor economists to analyze workforce data to identify and mitigate against adverse impact in various employment processes, including hiring, promotions, and performance evaluations. She also assists with bias audits of technology-based employment tools. In addition, Emily conducts trainings on topics including recruiting best practices, artificial intelligence, pay equity, and EEO compliance, and she writes and speaks on trending topics in employment law.

Emily also has experience working with federal contractors, including defending federal contractors in DOL compliance evaluations and discrimination complaint investigations before OFCCP and EEOC, and helping federal contractors comply with federal and state compliance and government reporting obligations.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Emily was a labor and employment senior associate at an international law firm in Washington, D.C., where she represented companies in single plaintiff and class cases in federal court and arbitration and counseled companies on policies and procedures, employment and separation agreements, restrictive covenants, and other workplace and personnel issues. Emily also defended EEOC charges, worked on internal investigations, and conducted labor and employment deal diligence. 

Emily earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review, and her B.A. from Duke University, where she graduated magna cum laude.
