Maya Barba is an associate in the Cross-Border Practice Group of Ogletree Deakins and is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. As part of a growing team of attorneys that handle employment-law matters worldwide, Maya advises multinational clients on all areas of establishing and managing international workforces.

Prior to joining Ogletree, Maya worked at an international law firm and handled a broad range of civil litigation matters primarily in an employment context. She worked with domestic and international clients in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration forums. Her experience also comprises maritime, securities and immigration law.

Academically, Maya has always had an international focus. She graduated cum laude from University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly U.C. Hastings). While in law school, she served as Notes Editor for Hastings International and Comparative Law Review.  Maya earned the CALI Award for Excellence in Advanced Legal Research and the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, where she worked as a student attorney assisting clients with applications for asylum. Prior to law school, Maya earned her B.A. in International Studies with an emphasis in Economics from the University of San Francisco, where she graduated cum laude. She is an avid traveler who studied abroad in Central America and spent two years teaching English in Thailand prior to law school.

Maya has been admitted to practice law in the state of California since 2021.
