Ace T. Tate is an of counsel in the Sacramento office of Ogletree Deakins. His practice primarily focuses on representing employers in wage and hour class and representative actions arising under the California Labor Code, Industrial Welfare Commission Orders, the Unfair Competition law, and Private Attorneys Generals Act (PAGA) in state and federal court as well as in arbitration. He also has extensive experience representing large multi-state employers in nationwide collective actions arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Additionally, Ace also performs audit and compliance reviews to recognize and eliminate or mitigate litigation risk.
Ace’s unique background makes him well suited to give the best strategic advice to Ogletree clients regarding wage and hour matters because it is informed by experience from every perspective. Prior to representing employers, Ace represented employees in the very same class, collective and representative claims he now defends. Before he was a plaintiff’s attorney, Ace was a deputy labor commissioner for the state of California’s Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) – Bureau of Field Enforcement (BOFE) where he investigated employers for compliance with state wage and hour laws. Ace can analyze an issue for a client from all sides to develop the strategy that best aligns with their business objectives.
In his spare time Ace enjoys exploring the wineries of Napa and Sonoma counties with his wife and spending time with his two dogs Elsie and Hank.
