Preparing to advance the proposed rule mandating employer injury and illness prevention programs (I2P2), OSHA has contracted with Eastern Research Group to survey employers regarding their workplace safety and health management practices. In a May 23, 2011 news release, the agency claims the survey will be used a “as a tool toward better designing future rules, compliance assistance and outreach efforts.”

The survey requests information such as whether an employer has a safety management system in place, whether the employer conducts annual inspections and who manages safety for the employer. The survey is voluntary. OSHA expects to complete collecting data by August. Results are said to be anonymous and not to be used for enforcement.
