U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has instructed employers to continue using the current version of the Form I-9 beyond the form’s August 31, 2019, expiration date. The current I-9 employment eligibility verification form has an expiry date of “08/31/2019” in the upper right-hand corner and an edition date of “07/17/17” in the lower left-hand corner. USCIS will provide details about the new version of the I-9 as soon as they become available. The new version of the form is not expected to contain any substantive changes.

Ogletree Deakins’ Immigration Practice Group will continue to monitor developments with respect to the new Form I-9 and will post updates on the Immigration blog as additional information becomes available.
