Everything you thought you knew about the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) continues to evolve in response to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) amendments. Courts and employers alike are still struggling to make sense out of what employers have to do to comply with a complex (and sometimes contradictory) statutory scheme related to leave and reasonable accommodation. In this interactive workshop, Roger Trim and Raul Chacon, Jr. will guide participants through a series of exercises to help them understand how the interactive process can work for employers when the ADA and FMLA intersect, how to structure leave as a potential reasonable accommodation that complies with the ADA, and how to identify other potential legal and business issues that may surface while administering leave under the FMLA and other laws.
