Ogletree Deakins Birmingham Shareholder Scott Kelly Named Employer Co-Chair of the ABA’s Equal Employment Opportunity Committee

Scott Kelly, a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Birmingham office, was appointed by the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Labor and Employment Law leadership to serve a two-year term as Employer Co-Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Committee. The EEO Committee plays a pivotal role in advancing equal opportunity laws covering private and public employment. As management co-chair, Scott’s duties include helping host the ABA’s National Conference on EEO Law, facilitating discussions on EEO law trends, overseeing the development of legal resources, and engaging with ABA members to foster community participation.

Scott is a nationally recognized leader in equal employment opportunity law, pay equity, and legally compliant diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. He regularly advises and counsels employers on matters including employment discrimination, compliance programs, and workplace-related crises. Scott is the chair of Ogletree Deakins’ Workforce Analytics and Compliance Practice Group, which provides tailored guidance and legal recommendations for a myriad of workforce issues, informed by data-driven, state-of-the-art compliance and risk assessment services. Scott also is chair of the firm’s Government Contracting and Reporting Practice Group and a steering committee member of the Pay Equity and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Compliance Practice Groups.  He has been involved with the ABA for several years, holding various leadership roles such as Program Chair of the National Conference on Equal Employment Opportunity Law and co-chairing a number of committees.
