CHICAGO, IL – January 21, 2011 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, welcomes Tina Bengs to the firm’s Chicago office as Of Counsel. Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Bengs was a partner with Hoeppner Wagner & Evans LLP in Valparaiso, Indiana where she practiced labor and employment law including general counseling for her clients as well as handling litigated matters.
In her practice, Bengs advises her clients on various employment and labor issues relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, worker’s compensation, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, unemployment, termination and employee discipline. She also has experience with issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act and National Labor Relations Act. Bengs has also represented clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor on a variety of issues. She has also expanded her practice to include litigation of benefit matters involving Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Bengs earned her J.D., cum laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 1996, and a B.S. from Indiana University where she was in the university’s Honors Program. She is active in her community through serving on the Board of Directors for the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce and the Flora Richardson Wildlife Foundation. She also is a Council Member for the Employment & Labor Law Section Council for the Indiana State Bar Association and a member of the Northwest Indiana Society of Human Resource Management and the Indiana Worker’s Compensation Institute.
