(Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s attorneys – Meg Alli, David Jones, Tim Palmer, and Peter Post – have been elected as Fellows in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Ogletree Deakins now has 29 lawyers in the College. By being elected, the Ogletree Deakins lawyers have met the College’s criteria including: the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards based on the College’s acclaimed Principles of Civility and Professionalism; the highest level of character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership; a commitment to fostering and furthering the objectives of the College; sustained, exceptionally high-quality services to clients, the bar, bench and public; and significant evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing and/or published writings on labor and employment law. Membership is by nomination only and is limited to those who met the College’s criteria for a period of no less than 20 years.
Meg Alli is based in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office and focuses her practice on the representation and counseling of management concerning the umbrella of employment laws and regulations affecting corporate clients, not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions. She has defended employers, schools and colleges in state and federal courts, administrative agencies and arbitration proceedings. Alli has also served as select counsel for employment practices liability insurance carriers and represented employers in wage and hour litigation and class action challenges to pay practices and exempt classifications.
David Jones is head of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Health Practice Group and is based in the firm’s Atlanta office. Jones formerly served as a presidential appointee, holding the post of Legal Counsel and Special Advisor to the Chairman at the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission in Washington, D.C. Currently, he engages in a nationwide practice representing corporate employers on OSHA-related matters, much of which includes serving as a senior strategic advisor to clients on workplace fatalities, catastrophic accidents, and OSHA inspections.
Tim Palmer, in the firm’s Birmingham office, is a litigator with significant trial experience in both employment litigation and general civil litigation in state and federal courts. His practice focuses on the defense of employment litigation including discrimination claims, defense of personnel actions, and defense of employee benefit disputes. Palmer also served as the managing shareholder of the firm’s Birmingham office for 10 years. He is a frequent speaker and has lectured on jury selection procedures and employment litigation.
Peter Post, from the firm’s Pittsburgh office, focuses his practice on the representation of management in labor law matters and employee benefit disputes, usually concerning litigation. He advises employers concerning union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, arbitrations, equal employment law, and wage and hour matters, as well as disputes under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Post has unique knowledge and experience with the labor, employment and benefit aspects involved in the purchase, sale and closure of corporate plants and facilities as well as corporate downsizing.
