GREENVILLE, SC – July 11, 2011 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, welcomes Daniel Sulton as Of Counsel to the firm’s Greenville office. Sulton’s practice focuses exclusively on employee benefits. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Sulton was a partner with Ford & Harrison LLP in the firm’s Spartanburg office. Earlier, Sulton served as assistant general counsel for SCANA Corporation.
In his practice, Sulton assists clients with employee benefit plan compliance including advising clients regarding the design, maintenance and administration of employee benefit programs. He also defends employers, benefit plans and fiduciaries in ERISA litigation and represents clients before federal and state administrative agencies including the Office for Civil Rights, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service and state insurance commissions. Sulton is a frequent speaker on employee benefits topics including HIPAA, COBRA, Health Care Reform and wellness programs.
Sulton is a member of the American Bar Association, Southern Employee Benefits Conference and the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association. He earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and received a B.A. in Business Economics from Wofford College.
The Greenville office has experienced significant growth recently with the additions of one shareholder and three associates.
