Ogletree Deakins' Mike Heenan Authors "MSHA Compliance Essentials"

   |   Press Release

WASHINGTON – February 13, 2012 – Mike Heenan, a shareholder in the Washington office of Ogletree Deakins, and one of the leaders of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Health Practice Group, has authored the 2012 edition of MSHA Compliance Essentials which has just been released by MineWorks Media. This is the third edition, which is under a new title, of the compact mining industry best seller, Safety and Health at Mines.

Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) jurisdiction applies not only to mine operators but also all outside contractors and service providers. They become regulated as “operators” as soon as they go on mine property. Operators at mines have found this book extremely useful as a daily compliance reference. It is also an excellent training tool, especially for supervisors and managers.

Heenan is a preeminent authority on mine safety law. Along with members of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Health Practice Group, he represents companies throughout the United States with respect to compliance, investigations, enforcement contests and litigation before the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission and the United States Courts of Appeals. Heenan has written and contributed to many books on industry safety and health and has been Legal Editor and a monthly columnist for Pit & Quarry magazine since 1996. He is listed in Best Lawyers and Who’s Who in American Law.
