ATLANTA – February 3, 2014 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, today announced that Todd C. Duffield has joined the firm’s Atlanta office as a shareholder. Duffield arrives at Ogletree Deakins from the New York office of Paul Hastings, where he was co-chair of the firm’s Traditional Labor Group.
A veteran labor and employment attorney with nearly 15 years of litigation experience, Duffield’s traditional labor relations practice includes union organizing campaigns and elections, unit clarifications, collective bargaining negotiations, grievance arbitrations, and contract administration under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and the Railway Labor Act (RLA). He also regularly litigates unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and represents private and public employers before administrative agencies, arbitrators, and state and federal courts. In his employment law practice, Duffield defends clients in single- and multi-plaintiff employment disputes involving allegations of age, race, national origin, sex and disability discrimination, breach of contract claims, restrictive covenant suits, and wage-and-hour collective actions. He also has experience advising employers on labor and employment issues in connection with corporate transactions and bankruptcy proceedings.
“Todd is an extraordinary litigator who has been involved in a number of major traditional labor and employment projects,” said Bill Steinhaus, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Atlanta office. “His impressive track record and extensive experience will be a welcomed addition to our traditional labor relations group.”
An experienced writer and speaker, Duffield regularly lectures on labor and employment law topics at American Bar Association conferences and has contributed to a number of Bloomberg BNA and Matthew Bender books on traditional labor issues. Duffield earned a B.A. in Spanish and International Relations from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
