Ogletree Deakins Names Richard Samson Managing Shareholder of Chicago Office

CHICAGO – May 17, 2016 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Richard (Rick) Samson has been elected as the new managing shareholder in the firm’s Chicago office. He succeeds Robert (Bob) Casey who held the role for more than 16 years. Casey will retire at the end of 2016.

 

Samson has represented management in all aspects of labor and employment law for more than 25 years with an emphasis on traditional labor law. He utilizes his experience in labor and employment law across various industries, including construction, hospitality, retail, food distribution, and casinos. Samson regularly appears on behalf of employers before the National Labor Relations Board to defend unfair labor practice charges and in representation cases. Throughout his career, Samson has handled such matters throughout the Board’s various regional offices. As an employment litigator, he has litigated cases before both federal and state courts, as well as state and local agencies in employment discrimination and wrongful discharge actions. Samson also advises employers in employment-related issues including employer investigations, claims of harassment, employment policies, and social media.

 

Samson served as an adjunct professor of law at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. There, he taught a course on the law of employment relationships and established a seminar dedicated to employee privacy rights. He is a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, been named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine, is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell, and listed in The Best Lawyers in America. Samson has been included in the Leading Lawyer’s Network. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Associated General Contractors Labor and Employment Lawyers Counsel. Samson earned his J.D. from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.
