JACKSON, Miss. – January 3, 2017 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Robin Banck Taylor has been named managing shareholder of the firm’s Jackson office. Taylor succeeds Tim Lindsay, who is stepping down after seven years in the role. With Taylor at the helm of the Jackson office, Ogletree Deakins now has 10 offices led by female shareholders.
“It has been an honor to serve the firm in the capacity of office managing shareholder, and I look forward to returning to my practice full-time,” said Lindsay. “I have worked alongside Robin for a number of years and know the office is in great hands with her vision and dedication to the firm’s core values.”
“Ogletree has a history of identifying female attorneys for leadership roles,” said Taylor. “I’m proud to have been chosen as the managing shareholder of our Jackson office, which is an integral piece of our presence in the southern United States. I look forward to leading our office as we continue to strengthen our presence and capabilities in Jackson and across the state of Mississippi.”
Taylor’s practice focuses on defending employers and management in employment-related disputes, including disputes involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure-to-accommodate, FMLA interference, non-competition and non-solicitation covenants, trade secrets, and other related state and common-law claims. She also represents employers in labor arbitrations, union elections, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.
With more than 15 years of litigation experience, Taylor has served as lead counsel in cases throughout the Southeast. She has defended employers in cases arising under Title VII, state fair employment practices statutes, the Equal Pay Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
In addition to her active litigation practice, Taylor regularly counsels employers on day-to-day personnel issues, including hiring, compensation, discipline, termination, covenants not to compete, protection of confidential information and trade secrets, and arbitration agreements.
