NEW ORLEANS – February 21, 2017 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Christopher Moore has been named managing shareholder of the firm’s Louisiana offices in New Orleans and Lafayette. Moore succeeds Mark Mallery, who was the founding shareholder of the New Orleans office and has served as the office managing shareholder since the office opened in May 2009.
Moore joined Ogletree Deakins in February 2012 as a shareholder in the firm’s New Orleans office. He has more than 20 years of experience representing employers in a full range of labor and employment matters. Moore has successfully defended federal and state law claims of race, sex, religious, age and disability discrimination, as well as breach of contract, wrongful termination, retaliation, defamation, harassment, infliction of emotional distress, misrepresentation, interference with contract, whistleblower, employee benefits and abuse of right claims, state and federal wage claims, and family and medical leave claims. In his traditional labor relations practice, Moore has defended unfair labor practice charges and has represented management in union organizing campaigns, labor arbitrations, and labor disputes. As an advisor, Moore prepares written employment practices, systems, forms, and contracts, and trains managers on their implementation and administration.
Moore has been recognized by top legal organizations for his accomplishments over the course of his career. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, and Super Lawyers, and holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Moore earned his J.D. from the University of Memphis.
“I have known Chris since he first moved to Louisiana in 1999, and we worked together as labor and employment lawyers before he joined me at Ogletree in 2012,” said Mallery. “It was my pleasure and privilege to open the New Orleans Ogletree office and to serve as managing shareholder for nearly eight years, but it is a tradition in our firm for lawyers like me to eventually hand over the reins to an outstanding successor. Chris is unquestionably that outstanding leader, and I look forward to working with him as we and our other colleagues continue to develop and grow our Louisiana practice together.”
