SEATTLE – January 3, 2018 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Laurence (Larry) Shapero as a shareholder in the firm’s Seattle office. Shapero represents employers in a full range of employment litigation and advice matters and joins the firm from Fox Rothschild.
“Larry has practiced employment law in Seattle for more than 15 years and is very well-known in the region’s legal community,” said Anthony Byergo, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Seattle office. “He is a key addition to our growing Seattle office, which now has six lawyers.”
Shapero’s practice includes litigation and counseling in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage/hour, non-compete and trade secret matters, as well as counseling regarding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, workplace privacy, and other labor and employment law issues. He also counsels clients on employee benefits issues, such as 401(k) and retirement plans, health plans, and executive compensation agreements. Shapero’s clients are engaged in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, bottling and beverage distribution, airlines, software design, biomedical research, insurance, health care and hospitals, and others.
Shapero frequently speaks on a wide range of labor and employment law topics and has served as a faculty member for seminars sponsored by The Seminar Group, The Council on Education for Management, The Lorman Group, and the National Business Institute. He is ranked by Chambers USA, and is a member of the King County Bar Association, where he previously served as Chair of the Labor and Employment Section, the Oregon State Bar Association, and the Washington State Bar Association. Shapero earned his J.D., with honors, from DePaul University College of Law and his M.B.A. and B.A. from California State University, Northridge.
