INDIANAPOLIS – January 29, 2018 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce a new scholarship and mentoring partnership with Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and Indiana University Maurer School of Law. In the inaugural diversity scholarship and mentoring program, Ogletree Deakins will award $2,500 to a first-year law student from each law school to support the development of the recipients and make a positive impact on Indiana’s legal community. The deadline for applications is February 16, 2018. Ogletree Deakins will announce the scholarship recipients during their annual Employment Law Briefing event on March 22, 2018.
Interested candidates should email a resume, undergraduate and law school transcript, and 750-word essay responding to the question: Twenty years from now, how will you measure the success of your legal career? to Vanessa Russell at Ogletree Deakins. To be considered, scholarship candidates must be a diverse 1L student at Indiana University Maurer School of Law or Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Recipients will be selected based on pre-determined criteria, including:
- Academic success
- Community involvement
- Essay response
Each scholar will be paired with one or two mentors from Ogletree Deakins for the scholarship year. Scholars will be invited to attend a series of Lunch and Learns hosted by Ogletree Deakins and will have access to resume coaching and a mock interview by a member of the firm’s national recruiting team based in Indianapolis.
