Former School District Chief Legal Officer Rodney Moore Joins Ogletree Deakins as Shareholder

ATLANTA – February 26, 2018 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Rodney Moore as a shareholder in the firm’s Atlanta office. Moore joins Ogletree Deakins from the Shelby County School District in Memphis, Tenn., where he recently served as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer after the merger of the City and County school systems.

In recent years, Moore served as general counsel of the Shelby County Schools, where he managed and supervised all litigation for the 15,000+ employee entity, also overseeing acquisitions and serving as an adviser to the CEO and Board of Directors. Moore has more than 15 years of labor and employment law experience at large law firms in Atlanta, handling claims of discrimination and sexual harassment, wage and hour issues, Title VII compliance, labor relations, and contract negotiations. Earlier in his career, Moore served as general counsel of Atlanta Public Schools and the East Side Union High School District in San Jose, Calif.

Moore has devoted many years of service to the National Bar Association, both as President (2008-2009) and as Chair of the Judicial Selection Committee (2012-2013). Many organizations have recognized Moore’s legal accomplishments, including being named to National Law Journal’s “50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers,” being listed in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2007, and being ranked as a Georgia Super Lawyer since 2011. Moore earned his J.D. from the University of Santa Clara School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Washington.
