Ogletree Deakins Deepens Its Traditional Labor Bench in Phoenix, Welcomes Former In-House Attorney Gregg Tucek

   |   Press Release

PHOENIX – June 12, 2023 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Gregg Tucek to the firm’s Phoenix office as a shareholder. Gregg joins the firm following a 15-year stint as Vice President of Legal Affairs & General Counsel for Raley’s Arizona (formerly Bashas’ Inc.), where he focused much of his time on traditional labor relations and employment matters.

As a member of Ogletree Deakins’ national Traditional Labor Practice Group, Gregg brings a unique perspective and extensive experience. He has practiced labor and employment law for over 30 years, serving in both in-house and outside counsel capacities.

In his role at Raley’s and Bashas’, Gregg handled a variety of traditional labor matters, including union representation campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, employee communications campaigns, and leadership trainings. He led the legal, retail compliance, human resources, risk management, and benefits programs. Gregg also managed all litigation for the company, as well as defense of administrative agency charges and investigations, while actively avoiding employment litigation through proactive counsel.

Gregg began his legal career at Snell & Wilmer and later joined Sherman & Howard as a partner. At both firms, Gregg devoted his practice to supporting clients with employment and labor matters, including serving as lead counsel in unfair labor practice (ULP) trials and representation case hearings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

“There have been many significant developments at the NLRB recently and our clients’ needs for traditional labor support continue to increase,” said Tom Stanek, co-chair of the firm’s Traditional Labor Practice Group and shareholder in Phoenix. “Gregg’s significant experience in the retail environment will be an invaluable addition to the firm given organized labor’s intense focus on those workplaces.  Moreover, Gregg’s unique perspective as someone who has worked both in-house and as outside counsel, along with his deep experience, sound judgment, and affable personality, will have an immediate and valuable impact for our clients when they need it the most.”

Gregg earned his J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Cloud State University.
