NEW YORK, N.Y. – May 27, 2025 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Frank Birchfield back to the firm’s New York office as a shareholder. Frank returns to Ogletree Deakins after five years as an in-house lawyer, most recently as Vice President of Labor & Employment for Vice Media Group.

Frank brings more than 30 years of traditional labor and employment experience, including more than seven years as a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ New York City office. During his tenure at Vice Media Group, Frank oversaw global workforce reductions and the reorganization of unionized labor forces. He also provided counsel to executives, managers, and HR personnel throughout the employment life cycle.

In Frank’s traditional labor practice, he has successfully supported employers in every aspect of union relations, including defending hundreds unfair labor practice (ULP) proceedings and labor arbitrations. He has acted as chief negotiator or counsel in bargaining dozens of union contracts.

An accomplished litigator, Frank has often acted as lead counsel defending employers, including in wage and hour class actions and discrimination and breach of contract actions in state and federal court. He has handled more than 100 agency investigations by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), U.S. Department of Labor, New York Labor Department, California Labor Commissioner, and numerous other government agencies.

“Frank’s extensive experience handling complex litigation, navigating traditional labor issues, and providing strategic counsel to international organizations will be invaluable to our clients,” said Patrick Collins, office managing shareholder in New York City. “His most recent experience in-house, combined with his broad knowledge of employment law, enhances our premier legal services in New York and beyond. We’re thrilled to welcome him back to our New York office.”
