Asra Hashmi is an associate in Ogletree Deakins’ Pittsburgh office. Her practice is focused on defending clients against individual and class action lawsuits brought under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Asra regularly advises and defends businesses in matters involving architectural and digital accessibility barriers (e.g., websites, mobile applications, closed captioning). Her practice also includes litigation, preventative advice, counseling, and training. Asra has experience representing clients through all phases of litigation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts and has successfully litigated matters pursuant to state and federal statutes including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, and various state and common law theories.

Asra brings additional litigation experience in corporate, general liability, and workers’ compensation matters. And, prior to her career in the legal industry, Asra worked in a Fortune 500 corporate environment in human resources, business-to-business sales, and government contracts—giving her a unique appreciation and business-based approach to her practice.

Asra earned her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law where she received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award, the Katie Elisabeth Westbrook Award for excellence in trial advocacy, and was inducted into the Louis L. Manderino Honor Society.
