Ben joined the firm in 2019 and is currently an associate in Nashville, where he counsels and defends employers in all phases of employment-related disputes before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Ben’s practice primarily focuses on employment litigation, where he represents employers in single and multi-plaintiff cases under Title VII, ADA, and ADEA, as well as defending employers against wage and hour class and collective actions brought under the FLSA. Ben also represents management with unfair competition disputes involving violation of employment contracts, restrictive covenants, and trade secrets.
In addition to his litigation practice, Ben has extensive experience advising and counseling clients on compliance with a wide array of employment law matters, including employment agreements and handbooks, reasonable accommodations, payroll compliance, and leaves of absence under federal and state law.
He also serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ambassador for the firm’s Nashville office.
Ben began his legal career at a boutique class action firm in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he handled a wide range of legal matters, including products liability class actions and wage and hour class and collective actions. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Ben worked for a Nashville-based law firm, where he represented management with numerous class and collective actions at the federal level.
Ben earned his J.D., cum laude, from University of Tennessee College of Law in 2016. During law school, he served as a research assistant for professor and former Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Penny White. Ben was also actively involved with the Advocacy Clinic, where he received a CALI Award for Excellence for his work.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and their two dogs and cat. He is also an avid golfer, vinyl record collector, and coffee enthusiast.
