Carmen Aguado is of counsel in the Los Angeles office of Ogletree Deakins. Her practice has a strong focus in litigation, as she represents employers in both high-impact single-plaintiff and collective matters. Carmen has substantial litigation experience defending both public and private entities in all aspects of employment litigation, including sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour, Private Attorneys General Act, and class action matters.
Carmen has successfully defended employers in state and federal courts and arbitration by filing dispositive motions that result in resolution of the case, and she obtained a defense verdict in arbitration on behalf of a client in the hospitality industry. Carmen also enjoys counseling and providing training to clients on the ever-evolving landscape of California’s labor and employment laws, helping develop strategies to avoid litigation, and drafting employer policies. In addition to her experience in litigation and with advice and counsel, Carmen has assisted employers during union organization campaigns.
Carmen has gained a reputation amongst her clients for being a hard worker, incredibly dedicated and detail-oriented in providing effective and creative litigation strategies. Recent accolades from a client/deputy police chief include “Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and guidance on these cases.” Another client accolade includes “Your strategic approach and attention to detail provided great confidence throughout the process. I deeply appreciate the time and effort you invested on our behalf.”
Before joining Ogletree, Carmen represented law enforcement agencies in high-exposure civil rights matters and gained an understanding of the immunities and protections afforded to public entities and law enforcement personnel. Carmen is also actively involved in her community as a member of the Junior League of Los Angeles.
