Gouri practices in employment law and traditional labor, representing both private and public employers. Gouri has extensive experience counseling employers on all types of human resources issues, including employment agreements, including confidentiality, non-competition, and non-solicitation agreements; separation agreements; employee discipline; employee performance evaluations and improvement plans; policy and handbook reviews; staff training; leaves of absence (e.g. FMLA) and disability accommodations; wages and overtime issues; and harassment, discrimination, and retaliation complaints. Gouri has performed numerous workplace investigations for her clients on a wide range of issues, including ethics violations, conflicts of interest, and discrimination/harassment complaints, including sexual harassment complaints. Gouri works hand-in-hand with employers to ensure they are in compliance with applicable laws and to minimize the risk of litigation.
Gouri also has significant experience in the area of traditional labor. She has served as Chief Negotiator for several clients and has negotiated multiple collective bargaining agreements. In addition, Gouri regularly advises employers on contract interpretation, grievance processing, and union representation drives; and has represented employers in grievance arbitrations and unfair labor practice hearings.
Gouri represents employers in federal and state courts, labor arbitrations, and in front of administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Department of Labor. She has been a litigator throughout her career and has successfully defended employers through all stages of litigation, including on appeal.
