Alex focuses his practice on the representation of management, with an emphasis on employment litigation. In representing employers across a wide range of industries, Alex has litigated numerous cases through trial, arbitration, mediation, and summary judgment, defending against lawsuits and administrative charges alleging race, gender, age, and disability discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, violations of the FMLA, FLSA, and Arizona Employment Protection Act, and common law claims such as breach of contract and defamation. Alex also litigates on behalf of employers in cases involving trade secret misappropriation and breaches of restrictive covenants and non-disclosure agreements.

In addition to his litigation practice, Alex provides ongoing legal counsel to employers on issues arising in the day-to-day operations of their businesses. He often advises on workplace policies and internal investigations, and provides preventive counseling and legal training for management.

Alex devotes a substantial portion of his practice to litigating and advising on issues related to employee drug-testing that implicate the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and Arizona Drug-Testing of Employees Act. He routinely counsels employers to ensure legal compliance of their drug-testing policies and practices, and he has also litigated employee drug-testing issues in state and federal court, at both the trial and appellate levels. Alex has served as a guest speaker on various topics in employee drug-testing for numerous professional groups.

Alex has been named to the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” lists for both the labor and employment litigation and management practice areas annually since 2021.
