Joan E. H. Harris has over twenty years’ experience practicing on the management side of employment law. With a strong in-house counsel background, Joan brings a unique and practical approach to employment matters taking into account the importance of understanding the challenges of balancing business initiatives while providing sound legal advice. Joan focuses her practice on Fair Credit Reporting Act Issues, Investigations, and Training.
Most recently, Joan served as Senior Employment Counsel for Wells Fargo where she provided counsel to her human resources and business partners on various employment-related issues. Joan has managed complex class action and single plaintiff litigation, drafted human resources policies and procedures, and developed training programs for her human resources and business partners on various topics in employment law. Joan has also drafted hundreds of charge responses before the EEOC and state and local agencies across the country.
Prior to her position with Wells Fargo, Joan worked as senior in-house counsel for Target Corporation and U.S. Bancorp where she developed her expertise in employment law and litigation management. Joan speaks on a number of employment law topics for various local and national legal seminars and also teaches employment law for the University of St. Thomas.
Joan received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and her undergraduate degree from Drake University. She participates in a number of volunteer activities involving young adults, and is a member-at-large of the board for the Main Street School of Performing Arts. Joan clerked for District Court Judge Michael J. Davis, now sitting as a Senior Judge on the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
