Marley Masser is a member of the firm’s labor and employment practices. An avid researcher and writer, Marley prides herself on developing practical solutions to complex legal issues facing public and private employers alike. In addition to her passion for labor and employment law, Marley enjoys assisting clients with matters involving higher education, constitutional law, and public health law and policy.

In her labor practice, Marley skillfully negotiates collective bargaining agreements, offers guidance on contract administration, and represents employers before labor arbitrators, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Oregon Employment Relations Board. Marley also brings a wealth of expertise to her employment law practice, where she has a proven track record in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative bodies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Marley gained valuable experience at a prominent local labor and employment boutique firm, served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Chief Judge Marco A. Hernández of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and worked as a Law Clerk for Clackamas County’s Office of County Counsel. Marley is also actively involved in the legal and broader communities as Chair of College Possible’s Ambassador Board, and as a member of the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyer Section’s Pro Bono Committee, Oregon Women Lawyers Queen’s Bench Chapter, and the LGBTQ Bar Association of Oregon (OGALLA).

Marley earned her J.D. with a Certificate in Business Law from Lewis & Clark Law School. As a law student, she served as the President of Lewis & Clark’s Labor & Employment Law Society, Associate Editor for Animal Law Review, and as a Peer Mentor for other law students. As a member of her school’s moot court team, Marley won first place in three out of four competitions, advanced to the regional semi-finals, and was awarded as the 2020 Best Oral Advocate during her 1L year. She also received Lewis & Clark Law School’s 2021-2022 Pro Bono Honors Award for her community service. Before pursuing her legal career, Marley received her B.A., cum laude, in Religious Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt, during which time she studied abroad in Bangalore, India.
